Thanks to your donations, the International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) presented a very successful hip dysplasia seminar in Dubai. We also thank the four members of IHDI Medical Advisory Board who donated their time and expertise to travel and teach this seminar without compensation. By working together we can and we will decrease the burden of hip dysplasia throughout the world. Hip dysplasia is three times more common in United Arab Emirates than in the United States or the United Kingdom. The availability of trained physicians in the Middle East is much lower than in Western countries. For this reason, the IHDI sent four members of the Medical Advisory Board to Dubai to help train physicians in diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of hip dysplasia. Approximately, 70 physicians and surgeons attended the hip dysplasia conference where they learned ultrasound techniques, proper use of the Pavlik harness and other skills for the diagnosis and treatment of hip dysplasia. All faculty members and registrants were very enthusiastic that this was a valuable program that will help many children in the Middle East. Some of the registrants were faculty educators who will promote the techniques they learned from the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. Congratulations on a successful effort!
