The IHDI has joined with the Mexican Society of Pediatric Orthopedics to provide a one-day course about hip dysplasia on August 27. This was organized by Pablo Castaneda, M.D. of the Shrine Hospital in Mexico City. Dr. John Wedge from Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto joined with Dr. Price as visiting faculty. On the day before the program approximately 35 children were evaluated and treated for hip dysplasia and dislocation. On the day of the course we were expecting 30 doctors, but 80 showed up. Numerous pediatricians and orthopedic surgeons learned the latest methods of diagnosis, preventino and non-operative treatments for hip dislocations and hip dysplasia. The course was a great success and will help improve care for children in Mexico. Mexico has one of the highest rates of congenital hip dislocation in the World. Many children are diagnosed late. This course would not have been possible without funding from donations and generosity of the Git-R-Done Foundation.
